As many of you may have heard I unfortunately was knocked down at the start of the National Masters 8K Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia back on St. Patricks Day 2018 and broke my left hip. It has been a slow process recovering but after a year of no running at all and some training at short distances I was able to go out and complete a 5k in 27:28 at altitude. Still a long way to go to get back to running in the 22 minute range which is where I was when I went down. So great to be back to running again but I don't recommend breaking a hip in your 70's.

run So glad to know you are back running Bill. Your freak accident has been a nightmare for you and I am so glad that you are able to get back to running. I know you love it so much. Happy New Year and I can't wait to run with you again. Bob

run Thanks Bob. May be out next December for the National Master's Club Cross Country Championships in Golden Gate Park. That's if I can get back to any kind of decent shape by then. Happy New Year my friend.

Hope everyone is safe and getting in lots of miles. Many races for May and June have been canceled or postponed but things will be figured out and we will be able to race again at some point. The most important thing now is we stop the spread of this virus. Ran eight miles yesterday with my dog Daisy.

Two weeks into my pulled hamstring doldrums... What's your favorite "I'm injured and can't run" workout? Tonight I did 40 mins on elliptical trainer and some weights but looking for that endorphin rush that only comes with running... suggestions welcome :)

run So sorry to hear this Kelly. One thing I would do right away is buy some arthritis patches. I think they are about 1.50 each. When I had hamstring issues, I wore these patches day and night for a few days. I was able to run without pain in just a few weeks.

So I hit 56 years old last Aug 2nd. I had a knee injury that required surgery so I am no longer long distance running...Ok it is what it is, so why should this stop things, so here is my question, Is anybody interested in weight lifting, I would like to post my successes in my new journey in weight lifting as a senior citizen lol. Is this something that is allowed on the Ujena Fit Club, lets face it "it is the Ujena Fit Club" Right Bob anyway is this a thing on the Ujena Fit Club

run Good to have you with us Ron. Our focus is running but we know some people can't run any more. The key thing is to keep moving. Weight training is one good way to do it. If you can you should mix in walking too.
