Fitness Statement | I am currently a student returning to college after a 4 yr tour on a submarine. Now that I have some free time to dedicate to my own health and fitness I have decided to take up running. I run when I have spare time to run, in between working and studying. I would like to make running part of my everyday life and aspire to run my first marathon in September in Half Moon Bay. |
Quote | “I do it for the pancakes.” |
Running Achievements | I have only competed in a couple 5K events and one 10K event. |

Quick out and back run down Campbell Ave. today. Fantastic weather for a run but the legs were a bit tight and I felt quite slow and sluggish. 9:30 pace throughout the run.
Finally went back to the pool tuesday night after feeling like I had been through some sort of rigorous physical fitness test the last time. I got to swim alongside Danielle Z. and had a great workout. Only a 25 yard pool so I had to commit to a large number of laps to get me to half a mile of total distance swam. I am hoping that adding several pool workouts to each week will make it easier to get back into running and help me shed a few extra pounds in the process. If nothing else then at least I will be helping the lotion companies stay in business.
Today was the first day back to running since November. I got out and ran a short two miles at the West Valley College campus with the West Valley Joggers and Striders club. Finished with a lot of coughing and wheezing, felt terrible, and feel like I learned a lesson about taking too long of a break. But as embarrassing as my performance was and as painful as my breathing was I absolutely can't wait for my next run!
Ran my first 16 mile workout on the LG creek trail on sunday afternoon. And if that was not enough I got to partake in my first ever ice bath for my legs. All made tolerable and enjoyable my the wonderful company of Danielle Z. Thank you very much Danielle for the encouragement and direction.
Ran along the Los Gatos creek trail today with my brother riding by my side to keep me company. A fantastic workout! Thank you Pat.
Ran 4x1200m at 4:35 pace, with 400m jog recovery, with 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down at the West Valley track.
I haven't checked the temperature yet but it felt very hot out there today (2-3PM).
Fun one hour of weight lifting, working on chest and shoulders, and a couple of thigh workouts to round out the session.
Ran the loop from my house out to West Valley College, up Fruitvale Ave, and out saratoga avenue. Finished with mile 8 at a relaxing 9:30 pace.
45 min of weighlifting at the gym, chest and shoulders. 10 min cardio warm up and cool down for total of 20 minutes not included in the 45 minutes
Ran a very nice loop today from the Los Gatos High School track out to Lexington Reservoir and back (4miles). The view from the St. Josephs Hill trail was beautiful, perfect time of day. And we finished off the rest of the distance by running around the baseball field at the school. Kept an avg heart rate of 160 bpm, felt great. Recovered with a gigantic supreme chicken burrito from my favorite local taqueria! Thank you Danielle for the wonderful run!
