The First Air Force Run Half Marathon

Looked good for another four miles or so, then my IT band starting hurting. I finished, but it took me about an hour longer than it should have!

Fitness StatementI started running with the military and hated it. Running hurt. I finished basic training with severe shin splints and swore I would never lace up running shoes willingly again.

After my daughter was born, I wanted to see if I could enjoy this sport, if I did it on my own with my own training.

I love it. I love the feeling of power as i feel my body coil and spring with every stride. I have gone on to teach learn to run and learn to run 5K workshops. I have lost over twenty pounds from running and weight training, and continue to work towards my goal. I think any running goal is possible, with teh right training plan.

I was training for my second half when I started getting pain in my foot - my peroneal tendon I suspect. I am still hoping to compete in the race in September.

My 11 year old is training with me - this is the first year she has soccer tryouts for a higher/more competitive level of soccer.

We ran and did three rounds of CrossFit. She did mention that sometimes she hates having "An Exercise Mom"...

run Why does she hates having an exercise mom? I have an 11 year old grandson. Interesting age.

run It is an interesting age. Much easier when you realize that they are very detail-oriented, but with strange (seemingly not important) details. She really only hates the Trainer Mom when we are more than halfway through a round of squats or Burpees :). We are in Orlando this week, so it's training and fun in the sunshine, instead of -42!

run Orlando! Must be nice there? In the end being in better shape for soccer, she will love you more!

run It's certainly a lot nicer than it is right now back home! She and I had a heart to heart last night. I explained that I can't want it FOR her, and I will be proud of her no matter what, but if she wants Phoenix, she has to work for it...we'll see what happens during today's workout (no running today. Skipping, crossfit and soccer drills).

So, I have been away, but I haven't actually been away from fitness - I am currently working hard to train for a few events this summer - a ten mile race and a couple of triathlons. I am also training with CrossFit.

One more exciting piece, I just got some samples from Athletic Alliance - a Canadian supplement company. I am excited to try them tomorrow before working out!

run It is always good to have something you are pointing for! You should include a Double Road Race on your bucket list...

Wow, my legs were tired from the bodybuilding yesterday. I needed the run, but could not manage much more than 3 miles!

Ran at lunch - it's really hot out there again. Should be hungry, but the heat just kills it. Going to force some Greek yogurt in a bit.

May go to Yoga tonight, depending since I am SUPER SLEEPY. Couldn't sleep last night (migraine), so am dead tired now. Going to have to ROCK OUT to the Rock of Ages soundtrack in the car to stay awake on the drive home. Always gets such weird looks, woman in uniform singing along to hair metal!

Whew! Over an hour of Moksha Yoga in the hot room. It was around 41 degrees. Felt good.

Ugh. No workout today. MIgraine from last night has not completely passed. Hopefully tomorrow.

run Was just starting to wonder how you were getting along with your workouts. Hope you feel well enough tomorrow to get one in.

Today was hectic. Started with an hour of soccer, then after work did an hour of softball practice, then a half hour of CrossFit, then swam with Darby for a half hour to cool off! It was boiling hot and humid today. Feels good, think I am back in the groove even though DOMS is setting in.

runnerHad a massage and Graston today for my neck/shoulders. Can that count as a workout? I look like someone flogged my shoulders and neck. It did, however, get rid of my migraine-inducing neck pain. Run, CrossFit and Yoga tomorrow. I LOVE Saturdays!

runnerIt's been a tough few weeks Barry, not going to lie - so many ups and downs. I am getting back on track though - thanks for keeping on me, exactly what I needed. ;)
