Fitness StatementI run a lot of marathons. I train year round at about 45 miles a week so that I could jump into a race at any time. I train with a good group of people who have similar goals to mine. We push each other in training and have a great time together when we travel to races.

runnerHad a great weekend in Bermuda, placing 6th in the marathon, 4th among men and 1st in age class. Also won the Bermuda Triangle Challenge for the lowest combined time in the 1 Mile, 10K and Marathon.
Dave Nevitt 1/20/13 6:26 pm
runnerWow...three races in three days and I am sure it must have been hot. Good job!

runnerWhat a weekend. Two races and two victories and it's only Saturday. Wins are few and far between for guys in their 50's. I quess you just have to pick the right races.
Dave Nevitt 9/15/12 11:38 am
runnerCongratulations, a weekend to remember! You recover fast. Your times are impressive, especially since you're racing so often and far!

runnerCongrats Dave. You are our Fit Log winner for last week. Since you are a 2-star member, we doubled your winnings to $100. Looks like you too are going to reach 50 races this year...keep up the good work!
Bob Anderson 9/11/12 9:04 pm
runnerThanks Bob. It has been a fantastic racing season so far. I have two more races scheduled for this weekend. I will get at least 40 races in this year. I'd love to shoot for 50, but there's not much available in Eastern Canada after the middle of October.

runnerA marathon victory today at a small town event in Port Greville, NS. Not my fastest result this year, but a very good effort on a challenging course.

runnerHad the race of a lifetime last Saturday at the Great Cranberry Island Ultra in Maine. Set a new PR for 50K. Went out way harder than I thought I should, but stayed strong and held on for a 2nd place finish in 3:41:51. A 24 minute improvement from last year.
Dave Nevitt 7/25/12 2:03 pm
runnerIt is exciting to be racing so well...
Bob Anderson 7/25/12 2:11 pm
runnerIs there no end to your talents? Great job and congratulations!
Roger Wright 7/25/12 2:26 pm
runnerWhat a terrific effort! How long will it take for you to get your legs back under you?
Barry Anderson 7/25/12 2:33 pm
runnerThanks guys. It has been a great season of running. I'm recovering from long races quickly and haven't missed a weekend of racing since the Boston Marathon. I'm at 25 races now and hope to squeeze in about 15 more. I'd like to go for 50 Bob, but races are few and far between here after mid October. Maybe I should consider a temporary move to California.
Dave Nevitt 7/26/12 1:25 pm
runnerAnother good race today

runnerTwo races in one day. A 10k in the morning and a 1 mile track race in the evening. Very pleased with the results, but sure was a long day.
Dave Nevitt 7/8/12 6:00 pm
runnerWay to go Dave...it is tough racing twice in the same day. This brings you to 22 races for the year. Sounds like you could make 50 too!

runnerDave, congrats on hitting 20 races for the first six months. If you can get in 30 more the next six months, you equal what I am doing. And you are real close to averaging 80% age-graded too! Way to go...
Bob Anderson 7/2/12 3:37 pm
runnerThanks Bob. It has been a good racing year for me. . My goal is to reach my 100th marathon this year. I have 6 more lined up including my 100th on Oct 7th in Wolfville NS. Lots of shorter races to run in the meantime. Maybe I could hit 50 races in one year.

runnerLooking forward to running my hometown marathon on Sunday, the Bluenose Marathon in Halifax NS. Just finished an easy 10 mile run and feel very well recovered from last weekend's race. One day of recovery and two to taper, unless someone pursuades me to go for a run tomorrow.

runnerHad a major marathon breakthrough in Fredericton NB today. Ran 2:58:28, my first sub 3 hour effort since 2004. The conditions were fantastic and it was just one of those races where nothing could go wrong. I'm very pleased to have run sub 3 in my 30's, my 40's and now in my 50's.
Dave Nevitt 5/13/12 10:40 am
runnerGreat Time! Getting under 3 hours is a big one. Congrats! Tell us more about the race.
Bob Anderson 5/13/12 11:32 am
runnerSweet! Nice job. http://www.arrs.net/TR_5Decades.htm So how does the timing of your sub-3s look to possibly make that list? If it is close just channel your inner Ed Whitlock. :)
Daniel Huddleston 5/13/12 7:18 pm
runnerWay to go Dave...now you can shoot for 60's also. Noticed that you have done the Leadville 100 race. Are you planning to do it again? Would like to hear your thoughts on that also...must be quite a challenge. Have noticed that we have several members that are doing ultra's.
Barry Anderson 5/15/12 8:01 am
runnerLeadville was probably a once in a lifetime experience. I'm not sure how many 100 milers I have in me. I ran a solid sub 29 hour effort in Leadville and if I thought I could go sub 25 I'd give it another try, but I think it may be to late in life for that. For people thinking of a 100 miler, I would recommend a flatter one to start with. Leadville is a great one to aim for. The beauty of the course is surpassed only by the brutality and it brings a huge sense of accomplishment when you cross the finish line.
Dave Nevitt 5/15/12 2:12 pm
runnerI just can't wrap my head around running more than a marathon...but I did run 35 miles once however it was not by plan...not a good experience...I do admire anyone who can pull it off...the feeling of finishing must be amazing!!!

runnerDave, congrats! You are our Fit Log winner for last week. You workout and posted each day. You have won $50. If you had been a 2-star or higher member, this amount would have been doubled. Good job and keep up the good work. Bob

Since you do a lot of Ultras, should any of these make our Best 100 Ultras Around The World list? Click on the Nominate A Race link on the home page. Thanks and be sure to post your workouts!
